The Removal
This particular task was the removal of a large twin ram, chain driven goods lift. Firstly all doors and entrances were to be removed from the running Lift car. The car was then driven to the top of the shaft to hang a 3000kg Loadstar hoist and 2 chain blocks.
The car was then buffered onto two super props in the pit area and the chain hoist lowered ready to lift the lift car to be used as working platform.
The chain driven hydraulic rams were then disconnected from the lift car.
The lift car was then stripped of all unnecessary equipment to reduce the weight and hoisted back to the top floor.
Guide rails and brackets were then cut and unbolted and constantly cleared from site to keep mess to a minimum and the site as clean as possible.
Once the car reached the pit area for its final time it was then dismantled and cleared.
Hydraulic rams were then tackled using the two pre hung chain blocks and drained of oil.
Over 700 litres of oil were drained from the ram and tank units!
Hydraulic rams were then cut into manageable sizes to be carried through the building.
All motor room equipment was then cleared for safe easy access for the new lift equipment installation to take place.
The lift shaft was then scaffolded and lifting equipment removed to make room for the new installation. To finish and provide a better working condition and better visibility we painted the lift shaft.
